It's just me.

This website is utilitarian. I need it to help me do things and help my students and colleagues do things. It is just me, so there is no team of people, IT administrators, or creative designers. I am also not trying to drive hoards of people to the site. So keep your expectations reasonable, and don't expect to be wowed.

Why is this website here?

When teaching and collaborating with students, coworkers, and criminal justice professionals, it is sometimes necessary to share information. This information includes links to websites, documents, explanations, demonstrations, videos, or anything digital. I also need to find and get to my own content and information quickly and easily when I need it.

When I create content for my classes in Blackboard, I sometimes lose that information during a course redesign. If I want to share something with all of my classes on Blackboard, I have to duplicate the item many times for each class. Sometimes when I am teaching one class, I need an item I created for another class, and I can't remember what that class was. After duplicating an item across 7 or 8 classes, I sometimes find that I made an error on something, and I need to fix that error. That will require me to fix the error across many different classes. After trying many solutions, including shared cloud storage, I decided a website would work best for what I need to do.

Thanks to incredible progress with technology and digital services over the past 10 years, things have become highly affordable and user-friendly. Creating a website can be done with a few clicks, and a domain can be purchased in a few minutes for $12 a year, thanks to Google Sites. I went from reading about Google sites to creating and publishing this site in a couple of hours.
